INVICTUS Power Systems
contract/sacrificial based power system:
basically how it works in DnD and Chainsawman, you give something up to borrow power from monsters or entities
first example would be giving up physical stuff like a limb for like magic stuff but youd be limited to 1 hand items
and 2nd is giving up more "abstract" or soul kinda stuff for power- this could reflect in gutted mana/humanity/health.
this one is basically what i had in mind so far for what i now know as "accords":
contracts (or accords, is that one scrapped?) each contract should have unique rules to prevent them from being busted af in some use cases.
one example would be to make certain contracts have their power diminish when surrounded by people with the same contract. Lore wise it would make sense for an entity to not want to lend all his power to a group of people, in the context of gameplay- this prevents people from stacking contract gained abilities, an example would be if one of the gained abilities were a burst/nuke dmg type of attack, it would be problematic for a group of friends to all spec into that contract just to 1 shot obliterate players and not have to deal with the contracts downsides since the fight is over so soon. (this effect can even be as severe as not getting the benefits of the contract at all if around a player with the same contract, really depends on the entity you made a contract with)
.
i've also been tryna think up a system that might be similar to the "tarots" one anyway but,,
tl:dr trying to ideate a "reliable advantage" system.
unnamed reliable system vs accords This will be a stark contrast to the "accords" which is double edged, accords are more unreliable because although it opens up new moves and playstyles, it could limit/lock you out of some playstyles altogether as well.
in addition to that, the main purpose of this power system is to buff other powers like your chosen class, relics u use, etc.
kinda having a hard time picturing this system since its idea is primarily to empower (and further personalise) the existing power systems- its rlly just that i havent tried much the existing power systems that im blanking here.
